Copper supply and fruit yield of young Citrus trees: fertiliser sources and application methods Bragantia
Hippler,Franz Walter Rieger; Boaretto,Rodrigo Marcelli; Teixeira,Luiz Antonio Junqueira; Quaggio,José Antonio; Mattos-Jr,Dirceu de.
ABSTRACT This study aimed to evaluate the fertiliser sources and application methods of copper (Cu) in citrus trees during the first years of fruit production. Two experiments were set up in an orchard with 3-year-old sweet orange trees, which were applied with three sources of Cu (nitrate, sulfate or EDTA) either via fertigation (Experiment 1) or via foliar sprays (Experiment 2). Regardless of the fertiliser source, Cu application via fertigation was not efficacious to increase the micronutrient concentration in leaves and, consequently, did not affect fruit yield. Conversely, foliar application of Cu, either as nitrate or sulfate, increased this nutrient level in leaves but when applied as copper nitrate, visual phytotoxicity symptoms were verified in...

Grain yield, efficiency and the allocation of foliar N applied to soybean canopies Scientia Agricola
Oliveira,Silas Maciel de; Pierozan Junior,Clovis; Lago,Bruno Cocco; Almeida,Rodrigo Estevam Munhoz de; Trivelin,Paulo Cesar Ocheuze; Favarin,José Laércio.
ABSTRACT: Soybean [Glycine max (L.) Merr.] grain yield is closely associated with the level of optimal nitrogen (N) supply, especially during the reproductive stages. Foliar fertilization with low rates of N have been considered as a strategy for furnishing additional N and enhancing grain yields. Field studies using 15N tracer were conducted over two growing seasons to investigate the impact of foliar N fertilization on grain yield, plant N content, the amount of N derived from fertilizer (NDFF) and N recovery efficiency (NRE). Four foliar N rates (0, 1300, 2600 and 3900 g ha−1) were supplied by two equal split applications at the R1 and R3 stages. Foliar N fertilization of soybean canopies did not affect grain yield, grain N content, shoot N content nor...

Improving reproductive efficiency of chickpea by foliar application of zinc Braz. J. Plant Physiol.
Pathak,Girish Chandra; Gupta,Bhavana; Pandey,Nalini.
Zinc deficiency is not only the cause of low productivity of crops, but it also results in low zinc content in seeds, which leads to poor dietary zinc intake. To study the effect of zinc foliar application on improving plant yield and seed zinc content for human consumption, chickpea plants were raised in refined sand culture with deficient (0.2 µM) and sufficient (1µM) supply of zinc under glass-house conditions. Prior to initiation of the reproductive phase, zinc was applied as 0.1% ZnSO4 foliar spray to both zinc sufficient and deficient plants. The plants exposed to different zinc treatments were studied for pollen and stigma structure and their involvement in fertilization and seed yield. Zinc deficiency induces flower abortion, pollen, and ovule...

Improving seed production of common bean (Phaseolus vulgaris L.) plants as a response for Calcium and Boron CIGR Journal
El-Dahshouri, Mohamad Farouk.
Two field experiments were carried out in summer successive seasons of 20115 and 2016 at the Vegetables Research Farm at Kaha, Qalubia Governorate Egypt. Experiment aimed to study the foliar application with calcium (Ca) and boron (B) on growth, nutrient content and yield quantity and quality of dry beans plant (Phaseolus vulgaris L.).The experiments were arranged in randomized complete block design. The obtained results showed that vegetative growth and seed yield and its components of dry bean plants were significantly increased by the foliar application with calcium or/and boron before and/or before and after flowering when compared with control treatment during the two seasons. The highest vegetative growth values were recorded by Ca at 2500 ppm or Ca...

Areerat Phayungtham; Wanwipa Kaewpradit; Boonmee Siri.
Objective of this study was to test the application of amino acid chelate foliar fertilizers on the changes of growth, yield and quality of tomato seeds. The treatments consisted of two levels (FCB and FZP) of fertilizer formulas with two levels of concentrations (2 ml/l and 3 ml/l) weekly at vegetative stage and after flowering. The experiment was conducted at three production areas at Amphur Muang in Khon Kaen. Seed quality laboratory at seed processing plant, Faculty of Agriculture Department, Khon Kaen University and analysis the nutrient in various parts of the plant at Department of Soil Science, Faculty of Agricultural Technology, King Mongkut’s Institute of Technology Ladkrabang. Experiment in 2010 for a period of 10 months. There were not...
